The Glenwood Springs Soccer Club, in conjunction with the New Castle Recreation Department, is hosting a soccer referees certification clinic for members of the community interested in officiating games this fall.
Instruction is 5:30-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Aug. 24-25, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the New Castle Community Center. Clinic and uniform is free for Glenwood Springs residents. Non-resident fee is $50.

The Third Annual Cody Brickell miniature golf tournament is Saturday, Sept. 9, from noon to 9 p.m. at Johnson’s Park in West Glenwood. A silent auction will be held as part of the activities. The event benefits the Glenwood Springs High School wrestling program.
Day tickets are $5 per person and $20 for a family. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Tickets can be purchased from members of the GSHS wrestling team and at the golf course the day of the event.

Fall sports will be kicking off at Glenwood Springs Middle School starting Aug. 21. Seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball will begin on Aug. 21 at 3:15 p.m. Eighth-grade football players will receive equipment at 3 p.m. on Aug. 21, while the seventh-graders will get theirs on Aug. 22 at 3 p.m.
Sixth- through eighth-grade cross country will start Aug. 22 at 4 p.m.

The Third Annual Lead King Loop 25K and Inaugural Quarry Trail Climb 12.5K will be held Sept. 17. The 25K will start at 8 a.m. and the 12.5K will take place at 9:30 a.m.
The races are a benefit for the Marble Charter School. All runners receive a technical T-shirt, breakfast and lunch, commemorative pint glass, goody bag and a chance at raffle prizes. Both races are scenic, run on dirt roads, and challenging. Participants may also hike. For registration and information go to http://www.leadkingloop25k.com.

The Roaring Fork girls basketball team will be putting together a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 26 at RFHS. If you have anything you would like to donate, (clothes, sports equipment, furniture, etc.) please bring it to the Roaring Fork High School gym on Aug. 25 between 7-8:30 p.m. All proceeds will go directly to the girls basketball team.
