Pinnacle Golf Tournament set for Sept. 10The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association will host the inaugural Pinnacol “Pinnacle” Golf Tournament Sept. 10 at Lakota Canyon Ranch Golf Club in New Castle. The event will be followed by the 19th Hole Cocktail and Awards Party. The cost is $100 per player. Corporate, hole and hole-in-one sponsorships are also available. All proceeds benefit the Glenwood Chamber’s Scholarship Program.Information: 945-6589. Final session of tennis lessons starts TuesdayThe final session of the Glenwood Springs Recreation Department tennis lessons begins Tuesday. The classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays or Wednesdays and Fridays. Junior classes are offered for ages 4 and older and adult classes are available for all skill levels. The Garfield County F.C., an all-star team made up of players from Nuevo Milenio, will take on the Denver Kickers, one of the top semiprofessional teams in Colorado. Tickets for the event, which includes music, are $2.Pollock, Romero in All-State soccer game this weekendA pair of area graduates will compete in the Colorado High School Soccer Coaches Association All-State Games Saturday at Broomfield High School.Rifle High School midfielder David Romero was selected to the boys blue team, while Basalt’s Brittany Pollock earned a spot on the girls blue team.In all, 32 players in each of the boys and girls divisions play in the All-State Games. The players were selected based on their performance last season and include representatives from the Class 3A, 4A and 5A.The girls game starts at 5 p.m. The boys kick off at 7 p.m.Basalt D-backs win Rec League titleBASALT – The Basalt Diamondbacks 11-12 baseball team took top honors in the Recreation League Tournament held recently in Basalt. Carbondale won the 9-10 division with a 6-2 victory over the Basalt Reds.In softball action, the 11-12 Basalt girls squad won a pitching duel against Parachute, taking the title with a 3-1 victory and finishing the season at 11-1. Basalt’s other 11-12 softball team placed third.SuperBowl offers volleyball leaguesNEW CASTLE – Leagues are now forming for sand volleyball at the New Castle SuperBowl. For information on the volleyball or bowling leagues call 984-2739.Youth volleyball camp to be held in CarbondaleCARBONDALE – Registrations are being accepted for the Roaring Fork Ram youth volleyball camp, to be held at the Roaring Fork High School gymnasium Aug. 4-6.
