In association with United Soccer Coaches, the Glenwood Springs Soccer Club is hosting two summer soccer camps for players 5 to 13 years old.
The first takes place next week, July 16-20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Glenwood Park. The cost is $110 per session. Registration forms are available on the GSSC Web site ” http://www.glenwoodsoccer.org ” or at the Glenwood Springs Library. Walk-up registration is also acceptable.
The second camp will be Aug. 6-10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Glenwood Park. Registration details are the same.
The Three Rivers Football Officials Association is looking for interested men and women to qualify as certified football officials with the Colorado Football Officials Association.
Training of new officials, which includes classroom work and on-field clinics, begins later this summer. The schedule is to be announced.

Glenwood Springs Soccer Club has extended the registration deadline to Sunday for fall recreational soccer, open to boys and girls 6 to 9 years old and girls ages 10 and 11.

The New Castle Hogback Hustle 5K Run/Walk is slated for Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
Beginning at the New Castle Family Fitness Center and ending at Burning Mountain Park on Main Street, the race route winds around Castle Valley Boulevard to Seventh Street and back to Main Street before ending at Burning Mountain Park.
The Hustle, the first of four races in the Colorado River Valley Race Series, is a benefit for Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers.
Water will be provided at the finish line and at one aid station midway. Post-race breakfast will be available courtesy of Boy Scout Troop 221.

The Colorado State University Shotgun Sports fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Rifle Sportsmen’s Club.
Lunch, games and prizes are on the itinerary, and shooters of all levels and experience are welcome to attend. Non-shooter games will also be open for play. On tap are Annie Oakleys, piece shoots, bushwhackers, flurries, trap, skeet, card shoot and page shoot competitions.
All proceeds benefit the CSU Shotgun Sports Team’s 2007-08 season expenses.

The Glenwood Springs High School cross country team is holding its annual meeting for athletes interested in participating in cross country and their parents, on July 18 at 7:15 p.m. at the Glenwood Park soccer field.
Necessary paperwork and important information about the upcoming season will be distributed at the mandatory meeting, which follows a regular team run at 6 p.m.

The Special Olympics Western Area Summer Classic will be held July 20-21 in Rifle and Silt. Athletes will be competing Saturday in golf, bocce ball, cycling and tennis. Volunteers are needed on Saturday at the bocce ball and cycling venues. Volunteer registration is at 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Park in Silt.
