The YouthZone Uphill Challenge – the fourth of the five-race Glenwood Charity Race Series – is slated for July 21 at 8 a.m.Participants bike, hike or run to the top of Iron Mountain (Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park) from Two Rivers Park, gaining 1,300 feet in elevation in the process.The race kicks off at 8 a.m. for bikers and 8:30 a.m. for those choosing to hike or run.The cost to sign up is $30 per person or $70 for a family (three or more).Contact Robin Tolan at 379-1365 for more information.Web sites:,

Burning Mountain Festival revelers will have a chance to cool off – and compete – with kayak races starting at River Park on July 21.A novice race begins at 2 p.m. and the advanced race kicks off at 2:45 p.m. Also at River Park, there will be a raft race at 3:30 p.m. Awards for both the kayak and river raft races will be presented at the Burning Mountain Park stage at 6:45 p.m.Registration will be accepted until race morning.Information:; King Lloyd, 876-2839.

Glenwood Springs Golf Club will be hosting its annual junior golf tournament, the Soda Pop Open, on Aug. 6. The tournament is open to boy and girl golfers ages 9-18.For more information or to register, call the pro shop at 945-7086.
