The 31st annual running of the Basalt Half Marathon is scheduled for Aug. 18.

The race will kick off at the base of Ruedi Dam and proceed 13.1 miles down Frying Pan Road into Basalt. Buses transporting racers to the start line will depart Basalt Middle School at 7 a.m. for the 7:45 a.m. race.



Race-day registration and packet pickup will begin at 6:15 a.m. in front of the middle school. Online sign-up is available through http://www.active.com or runners can download an entry form at http://www.basaltriverdays.com.

Glenwood Springs Middle School football will be kicking off on Aug. 20. Eighth-graders will receive their equipment at 3:30 p.m., and seventh-graders will receive theirs at 4:30 p.m.

The cost to play is $30.
