Area Sports Briefs

The Roan Plateau Soccer Association is looking for coaches for its U18 boys team during the 2008 spring state league. This is a volunteer position with a time commitment spanning from March through the end of May.

Practices are held three days a week for two hours. The season consists of five home and five away games, and travel could be as far as Pueblo. Coaches should have a competitive soccer background.

Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation is offering After School Hoops and Adrenaline Action Activities youth programs starting Nov. 1.

After School Hoops is for third-, fourth- and fifth-graders and runs Tuesdays and Thursdays Nov. 1-20 at the Glenwood Springs Elementary School gym. Sessions go from 3:30-4:45 p.m. and teach kids the fundamentals of basketball before the youth hoops season begins in January.



The registration fee is $40 for residents and $48 for nonresidents. Sign up by Oct. 25.

Adrenaline Action Activities is a program for first-, second- and third-graders that explores traditional and nontraditional games like dodgeball and kickball, frisbee tag, pop-n-do and capture-the-football.

The program runs from Nov. 7 to Dec. 12 on Wednesdays, with sessions running from 3:30-4:45 p.m.

Registration is $40 for residents and $46 for nonresidents. Sign up by Oct. 24.
