The Rifle seventh-grade A basketball team defeated Glenwood Springs 32-21 at Rifle Middle School on Tuesday night.Cougar Grant Fegan scored eight points and Kenneth Ortega added five for Glenwood (5-4), who will next host Basalt today at 5:30 p.m. The Rifle B team also worked to a victory over Glenwood on Tuesday night, dropping the Cougars 24-16. Sergio Gonzalez and R.J. Genua combined for 10 points for Glenwood (1-4-1). The Cougar B squad will also host Basalt today, but will take the court at 4:30 p.m.

Carbondale Middle School is the site of open gym basketball on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. Individuals must be at least 18 years old to participate. The cost is $5 per session of $60 for the whole season. The season starts now.Information: Becky, 704-4116.

The 21st annual Turkey Day 5K run/walk will be held at the Glenwood Springs Golf Course Thanksgiving morning on Nov. 22. Cost to enter the race is $5, with proceeds going to benefit the Carbondale Community School and to help cover medical expenses for the family of Paul Driskill. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the golf course clubhouse. The race starts at 10 a.m. Pre-registration is encouraged and can be done by calling Jim or Karen at 945-2026 for details. The race will be held regardless of weather.

Adult Drop in Basketball is currently being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Aspen High School Skier Dome from 7-9 p.m. The fee is $5/person. Information: 920-5140.
