GRAND JUNCTION ” Coal Ridge’s girls golf team, one of just two Class 3A squads at Monday’s Grand Junction High School-hosted Tiger Invitational, took seventh out of seven in a field of mostly 4A and 5A schools.

The three scoring Titans at Bookcliff Country Club were Nadine Chavez (115), Mini Kanakaraj (120) and Callie Schlegel (122).

Fruita Monument won the tourney with a team score of 254. Grand Junction Central’s Melissa Martin was the medalist, firing a 69.

In a March 20 article on Roger Walters’ resignation as head boys basketball coach at Roaring Fork High School, it was incorrectly reported that Walters led Rifle to the school’s only 4A Western Slope League title in 2001-02. The Bears also won the league title in 2002-03 with a 12-0 league record under the direction of coach Chris Lowther.
