The Rifle Creek Gap Opener, a two-man best ball tournament at Rifle Creek Golf Course, is scheduled for May 3-4, with tee times starting at 8:30 a.m.The entry fee for the handicap-flighted tournament is $160 per team. Carts are available for $32 per team. To sign up, call 625-1093.

Craig Nichols sunk his first-ever hole-in-one at Glenwood Springs Golf Club on Monday.Wielding a 9-iron, Nichols’ shot hit its mark from 140 yards out on Hole 4.The shot was witnessed by Jim Otto, John Seidel and Bob McKenzie.

Swinging his 6-iron, Ray Owen drained a hole-in-one on No. 8 at Glenwood Springs Golf Club on Monday.Bob Dressel, Don Veit and Bob Faulkner witnessed the shot.

The Glenwood Springs club lacrosse team played Grand Junction’s junior varsity team and sent its opponents packing with a 12-3 loss on April 24 at Gates Soccer Complex at Colorado Mountain College.Dru Avery scored seven goals for Glenwood, Seth Carmitchel netted two goals and had four assists, Corey Billinger recorded one goal and one assist, and Nate Miller and Tony Bosco each had a goal. Glenwood will next travel to Eagle to play in its annual tournament May 10-11.
