Former Roaring Fork High School quarterback Dan Markoya recently helped Suffield Academy to a victory in the New England prep football Foster-Hinman Super Bowl.

Markoya, who graduated from RFHS in 2004 and is a post-graduate student at Suffield, completed 13 of 17 passes for 247 yards in a 41-18 victory over Buckingham, Browne and Nichols.

Markoya was co-captain of the team that finished the fall with a record of 8-1.



The 13th annual Day of Infamy Snowshoe Race is set for today at Sunlight Mountain Resort. The race, which benefits local animal shelters CARE, Rifle Animal Shelter and Mid-Valley Animal Rescue, starts at 10 a.m. with prize drawings at noon.

The eight-kilometer race travels through Babbish Gulch at Sunlight Mountain Resort’s Nordic area. Age classes for men and women are broken up into 45 and younger and older than 45.



Pre-registration is $17 and available at Summit Canyon Mountaineering until Saturday at 6 p.m. Race-day registration at the Day Lodge at Summit begins at 9 a.m. and is $20.
