The Roan Plateau Soccer Association will be holding tryouts for its spring U18 boys team at Deerfield Park in Rifle today at 11 a.m.

The season runs from March through the end of May/early June. Practices are held three days per week and games are on Saturdays, with an occasional Sunday thrown in. The team has been playing in the state league, but the decision to play in the state league again or play in the Western Slope League will be decided among the coaches, players, parents and club directors.

Glenwood Springs Recreation Department is offering after-school hoops for third-, fourth- and fifth-grade girls and boys. Learn the fundamentals of basketball in a fun atmosphere.

The program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays (Oct. 30 through Nov. 20) at Glenwood Springs Elementary School.

Glenwood boys rout Alamosa 64-44, play for Demon Invite title on Saturday afternoon

Montrose will pose a tough challenge for the Demons to win their home tournament. “They’re a team that every year has a well-disciplined program that executes, plays hard and is well-coached,” Glenwood coach Fred Heisel said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.” Game time is 2:30 p.m. at Spencer-Chavez Gymnasium at GSHS.
