Glenwood Springs Middle School’s eighth-grade A basketball team improved to 3-0 in league with a 38-36 win over Rifle Middle School on Tuesday.

The Cougars overcame six RMS 3-pointers in the second half to preserve the victory. Collin Page paced Glenwood with 12 points. Collin Porterfield and Kenneth Madrid scored seven apiece.

The GSMS A squad, now 5-2 overall, travels to face St. John (Parachute) on Nov. 24.

Glenwood’s B team also won on Tuesday, beating Rifle 29-21.

Christian Rosas led the Cougars with eight points, followed by Sergio Estrada with four points and Sergio Gonzalez with three.

The GSMS B team, now 2-1 overall, next plays at Saturday’s DeBeque Tournament.

Carbondale Soccer Club invites all parents interested in finding out more about the club and wishing to share ideas to an open house tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carbondale Middle School cafeteria. Refreshments will be provided. This will also be an opportunity to register early for the spring season for any parents or players who wish to beat the deadline rush.
