GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado ” Grand Valley dropped its varsity baseball opener to Aspen by a count of 7-3 on Tuesday.

Grand Valley managed seven hits and committed three errors against Aspen to start the season 0-1.

The teams played the game, which Grand Valley was originally scheduled to host, at Canyon View Park in Grand Junction due to weather issues.

The meeting was supposed to be a doubleheader, but time constraints kept the teams from playing the second game, which will be rescheduled.

LEADVILLE, Colorado ” Sunlight Ski Team racers took to Ski Cooper in Leadville for the Feb. 27-March 1 Council Cup.

Recording the top combined finish for Sunlight was J4 racer Liam Mulhall, who took fourth overall. He had a top finish of fourth in the super-G, and placed eighth and fourth in two giant slalom races and second and 10th in a pair of slalom runs.

Other strong finishes for Sunlight included J4 racer Carol Stepniewski’s eighth-place super-G run and J3 racer Alex Stepniewski’s seventh-place slalom run.
