Friday’s snowstorm forced Rifle High School to postpone today’s home soccer game with Thomas Jefferson. A makeup date has yet to be set.

Also, today’s Bears baseball doubleheader at Battle Mountain has been postponed and tentatively rescheduled for Monday at 3 p.m. The game will now be held in Rifle.

Today’s baseball doubleheader between Roaring Fork and Olathe in Carbondale has also been postponed. The games have been tentatively rescheduled for Monday at 1 p.m.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The Men’s Club at the Glenwood Springs Golf Club gets its season going on April 7, weather permitting. The Men’s Club meets every Tuesday for 24 weeks.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Tryouts for the 2009-10 Glenwood Springs High School cheerleading squad will be held April 13, 14 and 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

All female athletes in grades eight through 11 are encouraged to try out.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Glenwood Springs Soccer Club and United Soccer Coaches will offer an advanced skills clinic at Glenwood Park soccer field from 1-4 p.m. on April 19.

Marley Wilson and Leigh Davies, coaches from the United Kingdom, will instruct the clinic, which is structured for players 8 to 15 years old. The cost is $35 and registration is online at

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The Glenwood Springs Ladies Club is extending an open invitation to lady golfers interested in playing in its 2009 season opener, the Mixer Nine-hole Scramble, on April 25 at Glenwood Springs Golf Club.

Lunch is included in the $30 entry fee and the action kicks off with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Participation does not require membership to the GSLGC.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Volunteers are needed to help with the 10th annual Mother’s Day Mile on May 10.

The event needs pie bakers, race-course marshals and help with registration, the green team, kids’ activities and race-day clean-up.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Registration is now open for the summer training program of the Roaring Fork Women’s Triathlon Team.

Registration forms and information can be found at A question-and-answer orientation meeting will be April 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of Glenwood Medical Associates (1830 Blake St., Glenwood Springs).

The 14-week program will begin May 6 and continue through Aug. 2, culminating with the Tri for the Cure Triathlon in Denver. The team promotes fitness, fun and philanthropy by learning the basics of swimming, cycling and running/walking.

Registration is limited and pre-registration is encouraged. Varied abilities welcome. Functional fitness abilities are necessary.
