GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The Glenwood Springs Ladies Club is extending an open invitation to lady golfers interested in playing in its 2009 season opener, the Mixer Nine-hole Scramble, on April 25 at Glenwood Springs Golf Club.
Lunch is included in the $30 entry fee and the action kicks off with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Participation does not require membership to the GSLGC.

NEW CASTLE, Colorado ” The New Castle Cup soccer tournament, hosted by New Castle Recreation and run in conjunction with 5 A Side Soccer, is coming to New Castle on May 3.
Registration for U8 through U18 teams is $150 and must be completed by April 27.
People can sign up for the June 6-7 Emily Johnson Play it Forward 3v3 soccer tournament at the New Castle Cup.
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” The men’s senior golf group is kicking off its 2009 season soon. The group meets for 10 a.m. tee times Mondays and Wednesdays at Glenwood Springs Golf Club.
Men 50 years old and up who wish to participate are encouraged to show up at The Hill any Monday and Wednesday and join the group by 9:45 a.m. From there, teams will be selected for the day’s play.

The event needs pie bakers, race-course marshals and help with registration, the green team, kids’ activities and race-day clean-up.

CARBONDALE, Colorado ” The Carbondale Recreation Department is taking registrations for its summer adult softball leagues.
Coed competitive and coed recreational leagues are played on Mondays beginning June 1 and the men’s league is played on Tuesdays beginning June 2. The cost per team is $480 and the registration deadline is May 15. There will be a mandatory captains meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 6 at Carbondale Town Hall.

CARBONDALE, Colorado ” Triangle Park, located along Highway 133 in Carbondale, and the adjacent soccer and baseball field will be closed for reconditioning beginning today.
The River Valley Ranch Master Association is charged with the care and maintenance of this park, as well as Orchard Park. RVR will be top dressing, seeding and fertilizing the field over the next two weeks and then will keep it closed for two to four more weeks to allow the grass to re-establish itself. Signs will be posted advising people to stay off the field.
