Chomp’s Deli is starting a beach volleyball league, with Tuesday night and Sunday day games starting May 24 and running through the summer. Four-person teams can sign up, free of charge, by visiting Chomp’s Deli (172 W. Sixth St., Glenwood Springs) or by calling (303) 517-9993.

Glenwood Medical Associates is pushing back its free sports physical night for local student-athletes from May 11 to May 26 in light of the recent H1N1 (swine flu) cases reported in Garfield County.

GMA will instead offer physicals to GSHS and Glenwood Springs Middle School student-athletes beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the new night.



Middle-schoolers will be admitted from 6:30-7:15 p.m. High-schoolers should report at 7:15 p.m. Physical forms can be picked up at the schools.

Glenwood Springs resident Matthew Ehlers took first place in Saturday’s NPC 2009 Southern Colorado and Armed Forces Natural Bodybuilding Championships.

Ehlers competed in the novice, middleweight division at the Colorado Springs show. This was his first show, and he took first place in his division and the first-place award for overall novice. The judges’ scores were unanimous.

Ehlers trains and works as a personal trainer at Exclusive Athletic Club in Glenwood Springs.

The Glenwood Springs Youth Hockey Association is holding a fundraiser golf tournament at Lakota Canyon Golf Club on May 22.

Hole sponsorships are available, and there are still openings to play in the tourney. There will be long-drive and closest-to-the-hole awards.
