Basalt Recreation is offering daily hiking trips to Thomas and Savage lakes for all ages. The Hike to Thomas Lake is July 8, and the trip to Savage follows July 22. Both hikes run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and begin and end at the rec. house. Cost is $25 each.
Interested participants are asked to bring a backpack, food, water and hiking shoes. The deadline for registration is the Monday before each trip. For more information, visit http://www.basaltexpressrec.org, or call 927-8214.
The Glenwood Springers youth track and field club is hosting its annual community meet July 9.
All ages are welcome to compete in the following events: 50-meter run, 100, 200, 400, 800, 5,000, 100 hurdles, 4×100 relay, sprint relay (100-100-200-400), distance medley (400-800-1,200-1,600), long jump and shot put.
The action begins at 5 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs High School track.
The cost to sign up is $5 for youths, $10 for adults and $50 for corporate relays. Proceeds benefit the Glenwood Springers.

The annual Glenwood Open golf tournament will hit the links at Glenwood Springs Golf Club July 11-12.

Defiance Volleyball Club will be having a youth skills camp July 20-22 from 9-11 a.m. at Glenwood Springs Middle School. All kids, preschool through eighth grade, are welcome. The cost is $45 and includes a T-shirt.

The 31st annual Sopris Runoff returns Saturday, July 25.
The 16.5-mile race, which begins at the
7-Eleven in downtown Basalt and ends at Sopris Park in Carbondale, will start at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $24 prior to the race and $25 on race day. The price includes a T-shirt and refreshments at the finish line.
Registration on the morning of the race begins at 7 a.m. at the start. For more information, call Bruce Gabow at 927-4135.
Glenwood Soccer is hosting two summer camps for players 4 to 13 years old.
The camps will be held at the Glenwood Park soccer field from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, July 13-17 and Aug. 10-14. The cost is $110 per session and registration is available online at http://www.glenwoodsoccer.org or by calling the club office at 945-6091.
