Women’s open gym basketball in CarbondaleThe Carbondale Recreation Department offers open gym basketball for women from 6-9 p.m. each Sunday at the Carbondale Middle School. The drop-in fee is $5 per session.Information: 704-4115.GSHS cheer squad hosting clinicThe Glenwood Springs High School cheerleading team will host a mini-clinic for children ages 5-12 from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 22. The cost is $20 per person, and the clinic will be taught with all age groups in mind. Topics include cheer and jump technique, dance and basic stunting. All participants will perform at halftime of the Glenwood Springs-Delta high school basketball game in the evening.Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the Glenwood Springs High School lobby.Information: Jody Jordan, 947-1809.Redstone Sled Dog RacesThe 21st annual Redstone Sled Dog Races are scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29-30, at the Chair Mountain Stables behind the coke ovens in Redstone. Concessions are available both days. There is also an open-entry cardboard sled derby following Sunday’s last race.Pool tournamentseach Sunday at SuperBowlThe New Castle SuperBowl hosts pool tournaments at 7 p.m. each Sunday.
