Glenwood Springs High School is holding its fall sports meeting on Aug. 11. Students interested in suiting up for Demon sports teams should meet in the school’s theater at 6:30 p.m. Those interested in cross country do not need to show up, as that team already held its meeting.

Roaring Fork High School fall sports practices begin Aug. 17.



Volleyball will practice from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. Soccer will meet from 7 to 8 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. Football practice runs from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m.

Physicals must be completed prior to taking the field or court for any sport.



The Glenwood Springs High School varsity football camp is slated to start Aug. 10 at 4 p.m. Contact Rocky Whitworth at 704-3228 for more information.

All Glenwood Springs High School boys interested in trying out for the boys golf team should report to Glenwood Springs Golf Club at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 10 for tryouts and the first day of practice.

A short meeting to go over paperwork, rules, policies and schedules will be part of the proceedings.

Bring clubs, shoes and be dressed in proper golf apparel, as prospective players will tee off immediately after the meeting ends.

Tryouts should last until noon or 1 p.m.

The Glenwood Springs High School football team will be holding a youth camp Aug. 18-20 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. daily for students in the third through seventh grades.

The non-contact camp costs $30 and all participants receive a T-shirt. Register at the GSHS field on the first day of camp or call 704-3228 to register early.

Campers should bring a water bottle, cleats and ball cap.

Coal Ridge High School’s football coaching staff will host a youth camp, for third- through eighth-graders, Aug. 10-13.

Camp will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each night. The cost is $20 per student. For more information, call Scott Parker at (970) 629-8669 or Jerry Zywiec at (970) 230-0311.

Registration can also be done on the first day of camp from 5 to 6 p.m. at the CRHS football field.

Ride the rails by competing in the Carbondale Cup Mountain Madness skateboard competition. Registration opens at 9 a.m. on Aug. 22, and the event begins at 10 a.m. at the North Face skate park.

Entry fees are as follows: beginner division, $20; intermediate division, $25; advanced division, $30; sponsored division, $35. The first 30 to sign up will receive a free T-shirt.
