AREA SPORTS BRIEFS

The third annual Demon 5K is scheduled for Sept. 16. The race starts at 5 p.m. in the field across from Glenwood Springs High School. Race-day registration begins at 4:15 p.m. at the high school.

The race is a fundraiser for the Glenwood Springs cross country team and the cost is $15 for the race or $25 for the race and a Demon cross country T-shirt. All proceeds benefit the team.

Judith Beneat of Glenwood Springs hit a hole-in-one at Rifle Creek Golf Course on Sept. 2. Swinging a 7-iron, Beneat found the cup from 110 yards away on the 15th hole. Pam Burger, Sally Brands and Lynn Kerr witnessed the shot.
