KMTS-FM to air playoff gamesKMTS-FM radio will broadcast live Friday’s Glenwood and Rifle boys first-round Class 4A state playoff basketball games.Play-by-play action with Ron Milhorn and Jack Jabbour starts at 5:55 p.m. with the Glenwood-Montrose game, immediately followed by the Rifle-Pueblo West contest.If either or both teams win Friday, KTMS will also broadcast Saturday’s second-round games.Roaring Fork opens district play FridayBoth the Roaring Fork boys and girls basketball teams start play Friday in the Class 3A, District 2 tournament at Palisade High School. The Rams earned the No. 1 seeds in their respective brackets by winning the league championship.The girls tip off at 6:30 p.m. against No. 5 Basalt. The boys open with Aspen as their semifinal opponent for an 8 p.m. game. Winning teams advance to Saturday’s championship games at 4 p.m. for the girls and 8:30 p.m. for the boys. Losing squads contend for third place at 2:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday, respectively.Area resident competes in dog sled raceVanessa Ivy of Rifle finished 18th in the Adult 4 Dog Speed class at the Grand County Sled Dog Classic in Granby on Feb. 20.Ivy completed the eight-mile course in 46 minutes, 38 seconds.
