Grove shows well at Colorado swimming JOs

LOVELAND ” Sopris Barracuda swimmer Sierra Grove tallied a trio of solid finishes at last weekend’s Colorado State Age Group Junior Olympic Championships.

Grove, competing in the 11-12 girls division, clocked personal bests in the 50-yard freestyle and 200 freestyle with times of 27.16 seconds and 2:10.14, respectively ” good for 10th and 11th place. She also placed 12th in the 100 freestyle.

Lacrosse club looking to expand to Glenwood

Eagle County Club Lacrosse is looking to expand its high school-age lacrosse program into the Glenwood Springs area. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Greg at 947-9791, 948-1376 or email at

An informative session and organizational meeting for players will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Glenwood Springs High School, and also at 6 p.m. at St. Stephen’s School, 414 Hyland Park Drive.

J5 Race Finale on tap at Sunlight

The J5 Race Finale is set for Saturday and Sunday on Sun King and Joslin runs at Sunlight Mountain Resort.

The 9- and 10-year-old ski racers will compete in the giant slalom and slalom races starting at 10 a.m..

“Sunlight Ski Team racer Kevin Hartmann is a legitimate contender in these races,” Sunlight race coach Harry Maybe said in a release.

Sunlight Mountain Resort will also hold its All Day Deck Jam beginning at 11 a.m., Saturday, outside the Grizzly Bar or in the Day Lodge in case of bad weather.
