GSHS track fund-raiserA barbecue and silent action with proceeds to benefit the Glenwood Springs track and field program will take place at 6 p.m. Friday on the Glenwood Springs Middle School campus. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children younger than 14.The event includes door prizes and entertainment.Special Olympics seeking coachesThe Glenwood Springs area Special Olympics program are in need of qualified, volunteer coaches in powerlifting and aquatics for the 2005 competition season.Both sports seasons run for approximately eight weeks, culminating with the state competition on June 3-5 at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.The Rifle chapter is looking for a track and field coach. Information: Julie Fite, 945-0395.Youth golf class registrationsRifle Creek Golf Course PGA pro Tad Holloway and assistant Duke Earl will conduct a youth golf classes for ages 8-17 at Rifle Creek GC starting at 10 a.m. on March 16-18.Cost is $30 per student. The class is limited to the first 16 students who register. Registrations will be accepted by telephone or in-person through March 14.Information: 625-1093. Adult tennis meeting setThere will be a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Glenwood Community Center to determine interest in forming an adult league for women’s tennis players at the 2.5 and 3.0 levels, and a 3.0 level men’s team.Women’s matches generally take place Monday evenings and weekends.
