The Rifle Creek Wednesday Morning Ladies Golf Club starts up April 6 at 9 a.m. with a short meeting and breakfast, followed by a scramble event. The club is open to any women interested in taking a few swings with the golf club on Wednesday mornings.

The Glenwood Springs Ice Queens women’s hockey team earned a 6-0 shutout in a league contest against the Aspen Mother Puckers B team, but fell 8-5 to the Mother Puckers A squad last weekend.



In the league contest, Liz Kulwiec notched three goals and Sonya Hemmen earned a shutout in her first league game for the Queens. Erin Ray also had a solid showing for Glenwood with a goal and three assists. Janet Tharp and Amanda Stephens had two-point nights. Tharp tallied a goal and an assist. Stephens had two helpers.

Against the Aspen A team, Erin Young put in three goals, and Erin Ray added two goals.



Bob Willey took top honors in Saturday’s Sequoia Glen 5-kilometer run on the hilly course up Mitchell Creek Road with a time of 25 minutes, 36 seconds. Larry Rose placed second in the men’s division.

Andrea Sprung was the overall runner-up and women’s winner in 26:02, followed by Kim Worline and Karla Richards in the women’s standings.

The Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for adult softball umpires and youth summer baseball, softball and T-ball umpires.
