The Glenwood Middle School eighth-grade basketball team won five games in this weekend’s Eagle Valley Middle School basketball tournament, with the fifth coming in the title game.After beating Buena Vista 37-20, getting a forfeit win over Aspen, laying down a 48-24 victory over Summit and topping Rifle 44-25 in the fourth round, the Cougars earned a spot in the title match. In the final, Glenwood once again faced Rifle and this time came out with a 31-23 win.Cougar Kevin Flohr Jr. totaled 76 points in the tournament, with his single-game high of 29 coming against Summit. Nick Ciani chipped in 19 points in the two games against Rifle.Glenwood is now 7-0 and will next play Riverside on Tuesday.

Class 4A Western Slope League Champion Battle Mountain carried its regular-season winning ways into the state volleyball tournament, sweeping each one of its matches in three games, including the state championship against Mountain View on Saturday night.The Huskies disposed of Mountain View with a 25-20, 25-21 and 25-18 win to finish its season with a 30-1 record.
