STEAMBOAT SPRINGS – The scores keep getting lower as the placings continue to rise for area high school boys golfers, who resumed their Western Slope tour Wednesday.When the final results were tabulated after the Steamboat Invitational, eight area individuals finished among the top 13 at the 18-hole tournament held at Haymaker Country Club.Adam Joiner, of Roaring Fork High School, posted the lowest score among the four area teams with a sixth-place tying round of 74.Ryan Klippert, from Montrose, was the individual medalist with an event-low round of 71.Two Basalt High School golfers – Connor Rakowski and Jim Knaus – finished seventh and eighth, respectively, on scores of 75 and 76. Matt McAdow had the lowest round for Glenwood Springs High School. The Demons senior carded a 78 to tie for ninth place with Roaring Fork’s Hayden Winkler.The Demons’ Mike Ross (79) finished 11th, one stroke ahead of Brandon Forney, from Rifle High School, and two shots up on teammate Blake Nicholson. Team scores from Wednesday’s tournament were unavailable.The tour resumes this morning at Yampa Valley Golf Course in Craig.
