Arreas teams fall short in local soccer tourney
Two area teams reached the championship match of Colorado Mountain Cup adult cup soccer tournament and both exited with losses.
Of the two championship games involving area teams, the Men’s Gold Division was the most dramatic.
Roaring Fork extended FC Littleton of Denver to a second overtime period, only to drop a 2-1 decision.
Pragedez Barrason tied the game at 1-all in the second half on a penalty kick after a FC Littleton foul in the goalie box.
The winning goal came with 2 minutes, 18 seconds gone in the second overtime period.
In the Coed Division title game, John Engelhart and Shawn Thomas scored goals for Glenwood United in a 3-2 loss to the FC Littleton coed team.
In other championship games held on Sunday, the Broomfield Rebels defeated FC Littleton, 2-0 for the Women’s Open Division title.
CF Properties of Lakewood posted a 6-0 shutout on the Blazes and Ocean Eleven, also from Littleton outlasted the Monarcas from Fort Collins, 1-0 to win the Men’s Silver Division championship.

High school state basketball brackets set; Coal Ridge teams home Tuesday
