GRAND JUNCTION – Clocking a personal best is always quite the accomplishment. Doing it at a state meet rates even higher.That’s exactly what Sopris Barracuda swimmers Keevyn Scholl and Jack Cassidy did over the weekend, notching top-20 finishes at the Junior Olympics state meet at Grand Junction’s Lincoln Park.On Thursday, 13-year-old Scholl placed 17th in the 13- and 14-year-old girls 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 27.17 seconds. She entered the race seeded 25th.On Saturday, 11-year-old Cassidy finished 19th in the 12-and-under boys 200 breaststroke, clocking in at 3:29.19. He entered his race seeded 25th.Also competing at state was the Barracudas 10-and-under 200 freestyle relay team, which consisted of Michael Wirth, Devyn Mote, Zeb Thorsen and Sebastian Joly. The Sopris youngsters, who competed on Friday, finished ninth with a time of 2:56.05.
