GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Behind a 3-under-par 68 from Jim Knous, Basalt ground out a one-stroke golf victory over Fruita Monument to win Monday’s Tiger Invitational at Bookcliff Country Club in Grand Junction.Teammate Connor Rakowski carded a 73 to form quite the 1-2 punch. Marty Knous’ 83 rounded out the Longhorns’ ledger at 224. Rifle’s Klayton Costanzo and Glenwood Springs’ Jason Whiting matched 76s to tie for 10th overall with Grand Junction Central’s Scott Whiteman. Costanzo and Rifle, which also got an 81 from Shawn Cruse, finished eighth overall in the team standings with a 243, just a stroke and place above Glenwood Springs. Alex Haynes shot an 86 to earn the Bears’ final scoring mark.Michael Braklow carded an 80, the second highest Glenwood score of the day. D.J. Pelland finished with an 88.Max Frank led Roaring Fork with a 92, while Kylie Simonson and Craig Spaulding each shot 94s to pace Coal Ridge.
