Cody Burkholder scored 31 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Basalt to a 61-41 3A boys Western Slope League win over Cedaredge Friday at Basalt.With Basalt up by five points at halftime, Burkholder nailed four treys in the third quarter and the Longhorns (8-3 league, 10-8 overall) upped their advantage to 10 points. Darren Duroux did a solid job in the paint with 16 points, and Ben Pollock scored 11 for the Longhorns.Cedaredge drops to 5-6 (10-8).Basalt wrapped up its regular season Saturday at Hotchkiss. No score was available at press time.Longhorn girls drop two gamesThe Basalt Longhorns girls team lost a pair of games on the final weekend of the regular season.On Saturday night at Hotchkiss, Kelsea Mulcahy tallied 12 points, but it wasn’t enought to get by the Bulldogs as Hotchkiss won 39-31.The loss drops Basalt to 6-6 in league (7-12 overall). Hotchkiss improves to 7-5 (13-6).On Friday night, Cedaredge held Basalt to just four points in the third quarter to pull away from the Longhorns for a 53-37 victory Friday night at Basalt.Basalt had eight players score, but none posted more than seven points. Deanna Spracher and Annie Schwener both scored seven points. Cedaredge improves to 8-3 (14-4).
