Basalt golf team in seventh after two days at state playoffs

Basalt is resting in seventh place in the team standings of the Class 4A state playoffs after the first of two days of play at Haymaker Golf Course in Steamboat Springs.The Longhorns shot a 236 in day one, 22 shots back from leader Kent Denver.Individually Basalt’s Connor Rakowski and Jim Knous are in a seven-way tie for 21st place with 78s. Teammate Nick Johnson is tied for 29th with an 80. Glenwood’s Jason Whiting shot an 82 and sits in a tie for 44th place, while Grand Valley’s Sam McKinley recorded an 85 and is tied for 55th.Rounding out the golfers from the valley, Basalt’s Bryan Mason is tied for 61st after shooting an 89.The tournament will wrap up today.
