Basalt, Rams set for rematch

PALISADE – There’s going to be a rematch of what was possibly the best girls Class 3A Western Slope League game of the season this Saturday – only this time it will be for the District 2 title.

Both Basalt and Roaring Fork – which battled in the regular season finale in a tight Longhorn win – won their semifinal contests to set up the championship game to be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Palisade High School.

Roaring Fork downed Cedaredge 62-59, while Basalt bested Aspen 54-43.

In the Roaring Fork game, Tarn Udall paced the Rams with 22 points and Jessi Rochel had a solid effort with 14. Cedaredge, which plays Aspen in the third-fourth game Saturday at 1 p.m., was led by Amber Koroschetz.

Lauren Redfern led Basalt to victory with 20 points as the Longhorns got out to a quick 14-4 lead in the first quarter. Brittany Pollock added 13 for Basalt.

Tara Walker scored 19 points to pace Aspen.
