Basalt youth football team wins Super Bowl

The Basalt D-2 Mountain West youth football team capped off a perfect season, by beating New Castle, 36-16, in the D-2 Super Bowl at Eagle Valley High School.

With the 7-0 season and the Super Bowl win, Basalt became the first team to win the Super Bowl in their age group from the program.

D-2 is made up of fifth- and sixth-graders. Members of the team are the following: Wish Moore, Ian Nakagawa, Tommy Lizotte, Dylan Madden, Arym Mellin, David Hubbell, Kade Schneider, Jason Mancinas, Axel Guzman, Sam Sherry, Wyatt Upton, Cole Dombrowski, Sawyer McKenney, J.J. Segal, Blake Thomas, Alejandro Beltran, Jamie Dolan, Ben Limongelli, Martin Alvarado, Brandon Medrano, Abraham Torres, Manuel Delcid, Walker Lassiter and Jim Rawley.



Basalt was led by head coach Tom Moore, and his assistants; Jeff Lemongelli, Kirk Schneider and Peter Dolan.
