Bears breeze into second round

RIFLE, Colorado – Ryan Moeller rushed for 279 yards and four touchdowns and returned an interception for a score, helping Rifle to a 42-0 win over visiting Erie in the first round of the Class 3A football playoffs on Saturday.

The Bears will face Roosevelt at home in the second round next weekend.

Rifle, now 11-0 overall, surrendered just 129 yards of offense to the Tigers and shut out an opponent for the sixth time this season.

Isaac Rider also had a TD for the Bears. Kellin Leigh recovered an early fumble that killed off Erie’s first possession and set the tone for the afternoon.
