Bears suffer 10-0 loss

MONTROSE – Montrose earned its second consecutive 10-0 decision over a Western Slope League team with a five-inning victory over Rifle Tuesday.

The Southwestern League Indians, who defeated Glenwood by the same margin Saturday, jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings.

Dustin Bertorello and Jacob Palmer led the Montrose offense. Bertorello went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Palmer was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.



Rifle only mustered two hits in the contest, coming off the bats of Nick Babler and Jason Enewold.

Enewold was saddled with the loss, giving up five runs (three earned) in his 12⁄3 innings of work.



Montrose’s Miquel Lopez earned the victory.

The loss was the first of the season for Rifle (3-1), while Montrose improves to 2-1.

Rifle travels to Thomas Jefferson Friday.
