Boulder North tops Three Rivers to win Colorado Little League state title

WINTER PARK — The season for the Three Rivers Little League Majors All-Star baseball team came to an end on Monday, as Boulder North prevailed 5-1 to win the stat championship on the final day of the Colorado Little League state tournament.

Three Rivers, which needed to beat Boulder North twice on Monday to advance past the state tournament, fell during its Monday morning matchup. Boulder North, a program that repeated as Colorado’s Little League state champ, advanced to a regional tournament in Waco, Texas.

The local squad managed a come-from-behind, 9-8 victory over Academy of Little League of Colorado Springs on Sunday. Three Rivers had lost to Boulder North, 16-4, earlier in the tournament following a convincing 16-1 victory to open the tournament.

The appearance in the tournament was the first for a Three Rivers Little League program in 15 years.
