Boyle hurls no-hitter

BASALT ” Jake Boyle pitched his second no-hitter in as many seasons in the first game of Roaring Fork’s doubleheader sweep of Basalt here on Saturday.

Boyle ” who also had nine strikeouts in the Rams’ 21-0 mercy-rule-shortened affair, which was called after the fifth inning ” came within one batter of throwing a perfect game against the Longhorns.

Boyle’s other no-hitter came against Aspen last year.



The one baserunner Boyle allowed came on a walk with two outs in the fifth.

The Ram senior was 4-for-4 at the plate with nine RBI’s along with a three-run home run while fashioning the no-hitter and went 7-for-8 in the twin bill.



In game two, Taylor Arbaney earned his third victory of the season leading Roaring Fork to an 11-5 win.

After Saturday’s wins, Roaring Fork is 10-4 on year and has moved into fourth place in the Class 3A Western Slope League with a 5-4 league mark.

Roaring Fork has a single-game league home contest with Cedaredge on tap Tuesday afternoon followed by road doubleheader at Aspen on Friday.
