Bryan Whiting named GSHS boys golf coach
The Glenwood Springs High School prep golf program has become a family affair, so far as the school’s head coaches go.
Bryan Whiting, a teacher at the high school, has been named as the boys’ varsity head golf coach for the 2004 season. Bryan Whiting’s wife, Kathy, has been Glenwood Springs’ girls varsity golf coach for seven years.
He replaces Norm Bolitho, who held the coaching position for five years.
Bolitho has stepped down from the golf job to devote more time as Glenwood’s head varsity baseball coach.
When Whiting takes control of the program, he’ll find the cupboard full of returning lettermen. Golfers in line to content for a varsity spot on next year’s team include brothers Sean and Michael Flohr, Connor Frey, Matt McAdow and Corey Brown.
Previously, Whiting has been an assistant coach with the school’s baseball program and also served as head coach of the varsity girls’ basketball team.
Boys golf teams start practice, before their high schools open for classes in early August and conclude their season by the end of September.
