Emily Hauptli had a memorable final round of high school golf Tuesday. Competing in the second day of the 36-hole, Class 4A state golf championships, the Glenwood Springs High School senior shot a career-best 18-hole round of 87. Hauptli’s Tuesday score combined with Monday’s total gave her a final score of 177, good enough to finish in a tie for 24th place with three other players, including Rifle’s Ashley Chastain.The two golfers had the lowest individual scores among area players in the event, held at Pueblo’s Elmwood Golf Course.Lisa Richards of Glenwood, after carding an 88 Tuesday, concluded the tournament in a four-way tie for 27th with a total of 179. Trisha Wailes and Kori Kosht of Rifle were 55th and 58th respectively.Andrea Watts of 4A team champion Kent Denver, also won the individual state title on a combined 10-over score of 152. Rifle, the Western Slope region team champion, ended the tournament in seventh place with a team score of 571.
