Coal Ridge falls to Hayden

Playing in their first Class 2A Western Slope League match, the Coal Ridge Titans shocked the visiting Hayden Tigers by taking the first game of Tuesday’s match, 25-19.

Then Hayden’s experience took over.

The Tigers rattled off three straight wins to post a 3-1 (19-25, 25-15, 25-23, 27-25) match victory over the youthful Titans.

Chloe Nelson had a team-high five blocks for Coal Ridge. Callie Schlegel led with seven kills. Freshman Kelly Romero had a fine overall match with five aces, six assists and two kills. Setter Sierra Grove led the Titans in assists with eight.

The Titans are scheduled to compete at the Meeker Tournament Friday.
