Coal Ridge gets big early lead, wins at Rangely
RANGELY ” Cruising to an early 13-0 lead at Rangely on Thursday, the Coal Ridge baseball team seized the chance to get some its non-regulars extended playing time.
The move resulted in a much closer final score, but a 15-9 Titan win nonetheless.
Brett Burrows got the start on the mound for Coal Ridge, tossing three shutout innings and earning the win. Burrows’ departure gave way to a parade of Titan relievers, with Jake Swindell, Jonathan Roessler and Braxton Jackson all logging time on the hill.
At the plate, Josh Alsop and Burrows keyed the Coal Ridge effort with timely hits.
“We blew the lead a little bit, but we got a lot of work done,” said Titans coach Luke LaBaw, whose team improved to 2-2 on the season. “We tried to get all our guys some work, our second stringers.”
Next on the Titans’ schedule is a trip to Olathe for a doubleheader with Gunnison today. The first game starts at 11 a.m.
