Coal Ridge High taking nominations for athletic hall of fame
Nominations are now being accepted at Coal Ridge High School for students to enter the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame, which the school is starting this year.
Former Coal Ridge High athletes can be enshrined into the hall of fame after they have been nominated by a third party, which can include a coach, teacher or teammate, among others. Candidates, who become eligible to enter the hall two years after graduation, are judged by a selection committee to ensure consideration for enshrinement.
Former athletes must complete no less than five of the nine athletic accomplishments required for enshrinement, which includes being a member of a league, district or regional championship team, earning all-state recognition, or being an individual state champion or a member of a state-championship team.
Nomination forms must be returned to the Coal Ridge High School athletic department by June 1 of each year, and nominees who are not enshrined will remain in the selection pool for three years after their initial nomination.
The nomination form can be found at the school’s Web site, http://www.garfieldre2.k12.co.us/education/school/—=16452&, or at Coal Ridge High School, 35947 Highway 6, New Castle, CO 81647.
