Coal Ridge knocked off by Eagle Valley

On the road for a matchup with the Eagle Valley Devils Thursday afternoon in Eagle, the Coal Ridge Titans girls soccer team came up short in a 3-0 defeat in the first action since Spring Break for both squads.

The Devils struck quickly against the Titans on Thursday, scoring two early goals to take a 2-0 lead, putting the Titans on their heels.

Eagle Valley would add one more goal in the game to put it out of reach of the Titans.

“They came out attacking and were very physical,” Coal Ridge Head Coach Damon Martinez said. “We weren’t prepared for it. We played a much better second half; Eagle Valley was a good, aggressive team today.”

With the loss, Coal Ridge falls to 3-2 on the season. The Titans will host Vail Christian next Tuesday at 4 p.m. at ‘The Patch’ in New Castle.
