Coal Ridge looks to finish strong vs. Aspen

PEACH VALLEY, Colorado ” Win or lose, Coal Ridge will wrap its most successful football campaign in the school’s four-year history tonight.
Closing out with a win won’t be easy, though, as the Titans face visiting Aspen, which is gunning for a Class 2A wild-card playoff berth.
The Skiers improved to 7-2 overall with a 49-6 thumping of Gunnison last week, while Coal Ridge lost a heartbreaker to visiting Roaring Fork, 27-20.
However tonight’s game plays out, the Titans have to be somewhat satisfied with the progress they made in 2008. After entering the season with just one varsity win to their name, they’ll close it out by adding no fewer than four to the program’s all-time win column.
GYPSUM, Colorado ” With a 14th consecutive playoff appearance not possible, Rifle will bring its sobering season to an end at Eagle Valley tonight.
The 2-7 Bears hope to finish it on a high note against the 4-5 Devils, who beat up on Battle Mountain 47-14 last week and are riding a four-game win streak.
Rifle is entering the game on the heels of a 48-6 loss at the hands of Palisade.
CEDAREDGE, Colorado ” Roaring Fork can finish up its season at .500 with a win at Cedaredge tonight.
The Rams slipped past Coal Ridge in Peach Valley last week to snap a two-game losing streak and up their record to 4-5.
Cedaredge lost to Grand Valley by a wide margin (58-0) to drop to 4-5 overall.
