Coal Ridge shuts out Gunnison

GUNNISON, Colorado ” Chalk up another first for Coal Ridge.

For the first time in school history on Friday night, the football Titans shut out an opponent.

Behind 150 yards and two rushing touchdowns from Josh Alsop, Coal Ridge scored a 21-0 win at Gunnison.

Alsop broke loose for scores of 9 and 50 yards and quarterback Keenan Grumley rushed for a 12-yard TD as the Titans improved to 4-2 overall and to 1-2 in the 2A Western Slope League.

“The kids really came together this week,” Coal Ridge coach Scott Parker said. “We executed very well.”

The Titans were without both running back Bradey Gasaway and center Collin Rada on Friday. Both were injured in last week’s loss to Olathe.

“We had some young kids step up and play really well,” Parker lauded.

Grumley finished with 87 yards rushing and Alex Klein had a two key grabs for 60 yards.

On defense, the Titan cornerback Tanner Horsey had nine tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery.
