Coal Ridge track relay teams enjoy big day at Basalt

BASALT, Colorado – Coal Ridge track and field athletes were in top form at Saturday’s Basalt All-Valley Invitational. Especially the Titans’ relay teams.Amber Lyons, Kathleen Maldonado, Rachel Becker and Cheyln McCain teamed up for two event wins, taking both the girls 4×100- and 4×400-meter relays and finishing second in the 4×200.Titan boys quartet Colby Fauser, Bradey Gasaway, Alex Klein and Blake Rivers were similarly successful in the 4×200 and 4×100, finishing first and second, respectively. Also for the boys, Gasaway, Fauser, Kody Roper and Gary Bowker joined forces on a silver run in the 4×400 relay.And Coal Ridge’s success didn’t end with its relays.McCain won the girls 100 hurdles. Stephanie Hayden was second in the long jump, Lyons third in the 200 and Jessica Needham third in the shot put.On the boys side, Bowker took third in the 110 hurdles, Gasaway fourth in the 300 hurdles, Klein fourth in the 400 and John Tinker fourth in the 800.Next up for Coal Ridge is a Saturday trip to the Western Slope Regionals in Grand Junction.
