Cougar seventh-graders finish season undefeated

CARBONDALE ” The Glenwood Springs Cougars “A” seventh-grade basketball team wrapped up a perfect season for the first time in over a decade with a 47-22 victory over Carbondale Middle School Thursday night.

The victory gave Glenwood a 6-0 record for the season and the seventh-grade PEG League title. There is no postseason tournament for seventh-grade basketball.

Kevin Screen had a team-high 14 points and Dakota Stonehouse tallied eight to lead the Cougars. Connor Riley and Matt Snyder scored six points each.



“This year we had an exceptionally talented group, but, in addition to being talented, they listened and learned and worked together well as a group,” coach Blake Risner said.

The Glenwood Springs Middle School “B” team also finished the season with a victory, edging Carbondale 20-19. Alex Cose led the Cougars with eight points and Hunter McCallum chipped in six. The Cougar “B” team finished the season with a record of 4-2.
