It worked – for a while.After leading by just seven points at halftime – and not scoring a point in the second quarter – the undefeated Cougars found some success against Carbondale’s stall defense in the second half. Glenwood downed Carbondale 35-8 Thursday in the semifinal round of the eighth-grade PEG League boys basketball tournament at Carbondale Elementary School.”Carbondale put the stall on us,” Glenwood coach Blake Risner said. “It made life tough for us. It presented a new challenge for us and gave us an opportunity to work on something we haven’t seen.”Jordan Ciani and Dakota Stonehouse paced the Cougars with eight points each, and Bennett Nicola tallied six points. Kevin Screen and Connor Riley each scored four points.Glenwood faces St John of Parachute in the championship Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Carbondale Elementary School. St John defeated Rifle in the other semifinal game. No score was available.Rifle and Carbondale face off at 9 a.m. Saturday in the third-place game.
