Farrah wins state title

CARBONDALE – Hanna Farrar continued her run as one of Colorado’s best high school kayakers.
the Colorado Rocky Mountain School junior won the slalom and freestyle events and was named the girls 2004 state champion at the season-concluding event in Golden last weekend.
In the boys races, CRMS sophomore Zack Podmore led a one-two-three sweep of the junior freestyle division. Jack Tolan, a junior, was the runner-up. Ned Perry took third place.
On May 15, at the 40th annual CRMS kayak races, Farrar recorded the fastest run in the K-1 junior slalom division.
In that event, Farrah had a mark of 2 minutes, 3 seconds, besting her nearest rival by five seconds. Farrah also took second in the Down River competition.
In the boys kayak races, Perry and Podmore were seventh and eighth respectively and teammate Spencer Schacter, a junior, finished ninth.
Nic Borst of Alexander Dawson High School from Lafayette, won the competition by recording a run of 1:33. Borst also won the junior down river competition by finishing the course in 10:42.
