Demon cheer squad looks solid as state approaches

GRAND JUNCTION – The Glenwood Springs High School cheerleaders have found their competition groove.In preparation for a defense of their Colorado High School Activities Association Class 4A state title, the Demons cheerleaders served notice by capturing the large varsity team division championship at the National Cheerleaders Association’s west regional competition Saturday.Glenwood is in a field of 36 cheer squads in the Class 4A CHSAA state championship on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Denver Coliseum.It’s the second time in as many weeks the cheerleaders have posted a high finish.On Nov. 12 at Englewood High School, Glenwood took second place in their division at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Mile High regional. The cheerleaders final overall team score earned them a repeat bid to the 2006 National High School Cheerleading championship.The annual ESPN-televised event takes place at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, Fla.
